I Woke Up This Morning With My Mind On Jesus

This gospel was revamped into a freedom song titled “Woke Up This Morning” in the 1960s. It is one of many similar songs used during the civil rights movement.

The Sweet By and By

Hymn is the result of a conversation between friends Samuel Bennett and Joseph Webster. Webster came into Bennett’s office one day looking depressed. When Bennett asked him what was the matter, he replied that “I will be all right by and by.”
